The Sustainable Bride is a bespoke wedding dress design company with a sustainable heart based in North London. It is run by Madeline Castagnéra-Bond, who is passionate about finding a more sustainable approach to the Wedding dress industry.
The Sustainable Bride offers 3 different ways to find your dress: Bespoke, Reworked & Found.
Bespoke dresses are designed & handmade using Oeko-Tex and GOTS certified fabrics. From sourcing fabrics, first toiles & fittings and final construction of the dress. I work alongside every bride with a holistic approach which evolves as the dress progresses.
Reworked dresses are where the journey started. Taking a vintage or hand me down dress to make a beautiful new dress. Previous dresses have been made from an heirloom sari from the 1960’s with real gold embroidery to vintage lace tablecloths. I love how new life can be breathed into these otherwise forgotten dresses.
Found dresses are a collection of curated and restored vintage & second hand Wedding dresses available to buy or to use as a starting point for a Reworked dress.
The Sustainable Brides approach reduces the impact of the Wedding dress industry by reworking pre-existing dresses and using only certified sustainable fabrics and processes. Dresses are made to order so there is no stock wastage.
