The Trampery: Shared workspace and support for entrepreneurs and creative businesses
INNOVATIVE NEIGHBOURHOOD PROJECTS, UNITED BY THE SAME HUMAN-CENTERED APPROACH
WORDS FROM THE TRAMPERY:
The Trampery is a London-based social enterprise, specialising in shared workspace and support for entrepreneurs and creative businesses. Since founding Tech City’s first startup workspace, The Trampery has cultivated an ecosystem of acclaimed shared workspaces and sector-focused facilities across London, with more than 500 businesses having called The Trampery their home. Our partners include the Barbican, Peabody and London & Partners, and The Trampery’s patron is HRH the Duke of York.
Since 2015, we’ve been working with the Greater London Authority, London Legacy Development Corporation and Poplar HARCA to underpin a new cluster running down the Lea Valley spanning Tottenham, Hackney Wick and Poplar. (Our site at Fish Island Village is an important element of this project, but the scheme is so large that it almost functions as an innovation district in its own right!)
Our structure as a social enterprise fundamentally means we exist to provide the greatest possible benefit for society, not to make as much money as possible – all profits go to supporting our community. There are three aspects to this:
We help creative entrepreneurs realise their ambitions by providing shared workspaces and support programmes
We promote an ethos of mutual support and active citizenship throughout the entrepreneur community
We support entrepreneurship in deprived communities as a weapon against poverty
