The 7 essentials for a soulful picnic

The sun is out, so obviously we want to get our bums out too!

It is estimated that 2 million pieces of litter are dropped in the UK each day... and you only need to take a walk outside to know that a large percentage of that is bound to be plastic.

Living that eco-lifestyles isn’t always easy, especially when you are out and about. So, to celebrate Wellness Week and International Picnic day we have curated the perfect guide for having a soulful picnic whether you live in the countryside, near the beach, or just popping out to your local park.

Here are our recommendations for a fun picnic for you and for the environment.

One. Switch from plastic-tupperware to Nought’s aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly lunchboxes, so that your picnic can be plastic-free and insta-worthy all at the same time.

Two. Carry all your bits in a Kind Bag. Their bags are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and make the perfect picnic bag. They also look f*cking cool too.

Three. Get your sandwich on with Earth and Wheat, who deliver wonky bread straight to your home, so all you’ve got to do is the prep! Wrap them up in some pretty patterned wax food wraps from BeeBee & Leaf.

Don’t forget something sweet for dessert. Doisy and Dam have incredible vegan chocolate, that tastes just as good as it looks... and it looks amazing. Honestly, go check it out!

Four. Get your drink on with Flawsome, which sell crafted cold-pressed juices, that can be delivered straight to your door (again, no painful trip to the supermarket). Alternatively, brew some Alpaca Coffee before leaving, pop it your flask for some on-the-go iced coffee. Make sure to let it cool down before adding the ice cubes though... We learnt this the hard way.

Five. Relax with a book and lounge on the grass with your nose in the pages. Some great reads we recommend at Goodfind are The Sun and Her Flowers, Purple Palace & other poems, and White Teeth.

Six. Since we can’t go anywhere without touching stuff, make sure to take some Delphis Eco who have an amazing selection of plant-based cleaning products. Try their Hand Sanitising Foam which is 100% alcohol-free... so no reminders of the time you took way too many tequila shots at your best mate’s birthday.

Seven. In case of an emergency... and if you’ve ever been to Victoria Park on a reasonably warm day then you’ll be aware that you’ll be expected to queue for over 30 minutes to use the loo. Sometimes you’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do, so go prepared with Serious Tissues on hand.

Whilst having fun in the sun, it’s important that we don’t check out. Remember Bournemouth beach last year? After one of the hottest days of the year, 40 tonnes of rubbish was litter all over the beach. Not cool. Make sure to take a roll of Seep Compostable Bin Liners with you for your waste.

Enough with the preaching, slap on some SPF 50 and get your picnic on!
