Breadwinners: Fresh bread supporting refugees into employment

Breadwinners.jpg

Breadwinners is an ambitious grassroots charity set up in 2016.

WORDS FROM BREADWINNERS:

Since June 2017, we employ refugees who sell the highest quality organic bread on farmer’s markets across London.

Our model uses our award winning bread stalls in markets across London as our base for two programmes: Risers, which provides structured work experience, training and mentorship to newly arrived young people seeking asylum; and Breadwinners, the follow up programme for refugees with the right to work having their first paid job in London as market stall managers. In the last two years we have supported 83 refugees and young people seeking asylum.

What makes Breadwinners unique is that, in contrast to most common charities, we invest funding to set up markets stalls which sustain themselves from bread sales, we contribute to the economy, and is easy to scale. We want to use this model as a platform to tackle negative refugee bias in UK.

WHAT YOU CAN FIND AT BREADWINNERS: ARTISAN SOURDOUGH, WEEKLY, FORTNIGHTLY, BREAKFAST PACK, SPICED TEA & BUNS, HANDMADE CINNAMON BUNS AND VOUCHERS.
