We're determined to prove that toilet paper is about more than just wiping bums. We make all of our products with environmentally friendly materials, and we donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for those in need. To date we've donated over $1.8m Aussie dollars (that’s the equivalent of over £1,000,000!) to charity and saved a heck of a lot of trees, water and energy. Not bad for a toilet paper company, eh?
Wait, toilets?
We think toilets are pretty funny, but we started Who Gives A Crap when we learnt that 2.3 billion people (roughly 40% of the world’s population) don’t have access to a toilet. Unfortunately that’s not very funny. Around 289,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That's almost 800 children per day, or one child every two minutes. Luckily, toilets are proven to be a great solution—they provide dignity, health and an improved quality of life. And in case that wasn’t enough, it’s been shown that a dollar invested in sanitation yields $5.50 in increased economic prosperity. Toilets are magical!
Our Partners
To do our part, we donate half of our profits to non-profit organisations working to improve access to hygiene, water and basic sanitation in developing countries. We’ve donated to WaterAid Australia, Sanergy, Shining Hope For Communities and Lwala Community Alliance — incredible organisations with deep experience and skill in implementing high impact sanitation projects throughout the developing world. To date, we’ve donated $1.8m Aussie dollars (that’s the equivalent of over £1,000,000!) which is enough to help tens of thousands of people in need, and we’re just getting started!
