Each year, the UK throws away 295 billion pieces of plastic waste. That makes us the second-biggest global plastic waste generator per person after the USA.
Only 10% of the plastic that is disposed of correctly is actually recycled. The other 90% ends up incinerated or stays in landfills for hundreds of years before breaking down into microplastics, contaminating our soil, our water, our wildlife, and us.
